An ex-GWR Castle class locomotive attacks Hermerton bank with the Up Cornish Riviera express for Paddington in this painting done about thirty years ago in acrylics whereas most of my later railway work like for instance the Torbay Express at Britannia Halt is in oils.
The term Up in railway parlance in the UK means towards London and Down away from London generally but there were exceptions to this rule with cross-country trains.
You can commission a painting like this of your favourite railway subject British or American from Mike at a cost of about �2500.
